This water color began with a pencil sketch. Here you see the art taped to my drawing surface with the American flag taking shape. |

The athletes begin to take form with color.

Near completion. Interestingly, I used wet washes of gold and tan in the white bars of the flag to complement the gold of the Navy uniforms and blues to emphasize shadows. It worked, adding an overall warm glow and pleasing contrast. |
